Joanna Savill Blog
The Sydney International Food Festival director is one of Australia's
most popular and respected food personalities. Joanna Savill is a
prolific traveller and writer on food and food cultures, a long-time Good Living contributor and co-editor of the The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide, now in its 25th edition. She was also co-creator and host of the landmark TV series, The Food Lover's Guide to Australia (seen in more than 20 countries).Joanna and the Festival team have designed a program which will highlight Sydney's amazing food culture, in particular its interaction with Asian cuisines, techniques and ingredients. The city's vibrant food precincts will also come alive. There will be a strong emphasis on community, growers and providores as well as food-related issues such as sustainability, food “ethics”, Slow Food and food for all. A significant regional component will bring the country to the city and take visitors to special SIFF-related events across NSW.
The message is that good food is available to everyone – whether as high art in some of the world's finest kitchens or in a simple backyard kitchen garden – and that Sydney is the place to find it.
Watch out for Joanna's regular blogs and tweets as the program comes together.
